The Art of Self-Mastery: A Guide to a Fulfilling Life
The Emphatic Truth Motivation
As we tackle the daily battle life presents. It's important to remember; that how we perceive is how we will think, how we think, we will behave. We subconsciously act out our thoughts, often gendering our evolution into that higher self we wish to be. The soul is no toy you can brush aside and retrieve as needed. The soul represents the purest of spirituality. Being in tune with this spirit isn’t easy by a long shot, but it’s a constant reminder of who’s in control and forces us to think outside of who we are and more so what we aim to be. Spirituality is often talked about in church and represents a divine faith in the figure above. What about self-mastery?
Definition of self-mastery
: the ability to control one's desires or impulses: self-control, self-discipline
As spiritual as we think we are; Being spiritually dead with no self-mastery is the most dangerous of them all. Being in tune to understand the self.
What tics me off?
What makes me happy?
What brings joy and peace?
Oftentimes time we aren’t asked those questions, even about ourselves, and want an outwardly being to recuse us from our judgment. As I began and still do study, and study what I value and what my true aspirations are, I understood how crucial a thoughtful response would be moving forward. How we respond is everything and can either help or hinder your growth. We are at war with our minds more often than anything. Contemplating and agonizing over every choice and decision. Who said you had to be perfect to live this life?
Free your mind and know that you may not be able to control your circumstances. But oftentimes, you can control your response.
In light of the recent tragedies, pandemic, and never-ending uncertainty, we are all searching for a way to respond. A way to rebound and reclaim our BEING in society. If I've learned anything through my experiences in life, it's that life has no favorites. It will pick you apart from the injustice, racism, classism, or status of this world.
The ONLY thing that is in your immediate control when kids come at you fast is how well will you respond. It's the uncomfortable truth, nevertheless, it's the Emphatic Truth hardly ever spoken because like many other social issues in America, life, we hide behind our image. An image is built by perception.
What are you trying to convey to the world?
What's your response to events, or situations beyond your immediate control? Is it healthy?
Master your true self by overcoming thoughts or feelings that discourage anything but your truth and peace. Speak life into the things you can control such as your attitude, the words you speak, the shows you watch, the mindset that you bring the work, your relationships, and your families.
